Personal finance
Long-term investing, no trading. I follow the four pillars, popularised in Italy by Paolo Coletti: every euro gets a time horizon and a job.
The four pillars
- LiquidityEveryday expenses, 0 to 1 month. Current account, 1 to 2 times monthly spending.
- Emergency fundSerious surprises, available within days. Deposit account, money market ETFs or short-term government bonds: 3 to 12 months of essential expenses.
- Predictable expensesKnown projects in 1 to 10 years. Bonds maturing when the money is needed, no equities.
- Long-term investingGrowth and protection from inflation, beyond 10 years. Diversified global equity ETFs, funded only by the surplus.
The future
Space
If Elon Musk needs people to go to Mars, I’m in.
- Stars, planets and everything in between.
That’s all, for now
The rest of the time, I build software.
